In the current competitive era, to be successful in the football you just cannot rely on your some those skills you were born with, but you have to learn continuously to survive in the first team. Now football is not only just running through the ground and scoring goals but now it has become much more. A successful player should work on his tactics, skills and he must find the best position for himself to play. All the positions, in a football team, demand something extra to be filled by someone. Below is the list of some key skills and attributes for some key positions in football. Go through all of them if you want to learn real game sense or you want to become a leader in football. So you must learn all of them. These are classified into three major fields; Attack, midfield, defense. Enjoy :)
Attack“The best way to defend is to attack” In attacking area, you must be very sharp and always present in the field mentally and physically.
Striker:
One of the most important positions in the attack is the striker. A good striker must be very sharp, tricky and quick. He must always observe the game play of the midfielders and should have great attack positioning i.e. he must always be creating space for himself so that midfielders should find him quite easily. Further, he must have a great ball control so that any pass, long pass, through ball to him can possibly turn into a definite goal. Moreover he must have perfect headers and volleys with great accuracy in the net because more often he has to do a one touch finish so he must be having some tricks like chipping the ball, fake shot, Rebona and low shots. You can watch some clips of Luis Suarez :)

Centre Forward:
Centre forward is somewhat a striker but there is a little difference. A centre forward also plays a pivot role in the game building. He supports midfielders in an attacking build up by doing one touch passing and whenever he has the chance he shoots in the net. So he must have some additional abilities than strikers as well. As he has to create space and cut the defenders apart so he must have some great dribbling because he plays in the heart of the attacking area so two to three defenders are always be there to mark him so he must work on his footwork so that he can dodge the defenders and create space for others or for himself too. We are blessed that we are living in Lionel Messi era ;)
over to Leo messi ;)

Midfield:
Midfield is the centre of the playing field where the clash of both teams occurs. More than 70% game is being played in the midfield. So you can not underestimate the power of a midfielder ;)
Here is some classification of the midfielders which is too important to note down.
Left winger:
To become a great winger is very interesting and one of the toughest jobs on the field. Although winger has to play on the sideline and usually does not have to dodge the more opponents than those who play in midfield but still it is a tough job as you have only a little space to run through. There is usually a rush of midfield players in the centre of the ground so the game play in the heart of ground is generally slow so winger has a job to provide pace in the game play and in the attacking build up. Wingers’ job is to beat the defender with the great pace and somewhat tricky footwork and assist the attackers from the side flank. In many cases winger has to take his chance on the net because other midfield fellows are usually covered with the opponents. So a winger must have a great pace and a handsome shoot power. A left winger has to shoot from the left angle so usually it is preferable that a left winger must be right footed. But a left footed player can also become a left winger if the team has to play the long balls for the headers. You guys are really lucky that you have such an immense talent right now to learn from. A best left winger from whom you must learn is without any doubt Cristiano Ronaldo. Go and get inspired from his collections ;)

Right winger:
Right winger must have also the same skills as the left winger. He must have great pace, shooting power and some tricks to trouble the tacklers. It is recommended that right winger should be left footed so that he can also take so many shooting chances himself. Otherwise it is still fine that he is providing some great crosses to the men in centre. Right now a very motivational personality can be handy for you guys who started his career as a left back and then moved to left wing and currently he can play on both side flanks. But his shoot from the right side towards net is really threatening. Let me tell you he is a left footed. After reading this you must meet Gareth Bale :3

Attacking midfielder:
It is arguably the most difficult position to play. If you wanna dare to play as an attacking midfielder then you must know about the efforts you must have to do. You have to be in love with the ball i.e. a massive ball control. Because being an attacking midfielder is just like to fight with the storm stand alone. Just imagine, you have the ball, opposing defenders are in front of you to block and tackle you, the opposing defensive midfield is around you to push you away from the ball and your own team mates are expecting a wonderful assist from you. It is really horrible. But don’t worry, just believe on yourself, do hard work, be a proactive and try to keep ball with you as much as you can. Attract some opponents and make your attackers free in the scoring position and then give them a delightful ball to score ;) It looked so easy didn’t it? But actually it is the most difficult job An attacking midfielder must have massive ball control, superb dribbling and huge sensible vision to provide the perfect balls to team mates. If you are finding it hard after reading the above statements then you must watch the delightful Andres Iniesta :) Look how cool, calm and comfortable he is to be an attacking midfielder (a super hero) ;)
Central Midfielder:
Central Midefielder is just like a jewel in the midfield because he performs almost anything. You can say, he is an allrounder and one man army of a midfield. He runs from his own 18-yard box to opposition's panelty area.
On defensive side,He can block, tackle, intercept and can stop the oppostion’s play. From an offensive perspective, he can play long balls, make late runs in an oppositon’s panelty area and can carry the ball forward from his own half.He also has the ability to score goals from outside the 18-yard box. This player is the most hardworking player and covers most distance on the ground. Thus,he has the attributes of attacking midfielder as well as of defensive midfielder.
This type of midfielder possesses high stamina, huge work rate, great vision and has an ability to follow the ball wherever it goes.He is physically strong.
Right now, the sensational central midfielder who has some serious guts to be one of the greatest is a young sensation. Paul Pogba.
Defensive Midfielder:
It is as much important as all other positions in midfield. A tough position to carry out. A defensive midfielder has to stop to attacking build up by the opponents. As it is upfront of the defenders, covering them, so he has to stop the most dangerous balls and the person to get to the defenders. It is part of his job that by hook or by crook no man should dodge him so easily. That’s why generally defensive midfielders are physically strong and have the great composure of the ball. They can play even aggressively in some situations when their defense seems to vulnerable against counter attacks. Its part of their job. A Body play, pushing and stopping the opponent with shoulder and body, normal tackles, sliding tackles are part of their job. So they must be strong enough to cope with the versatile situations easily. Further, they should have a decent shoot power to clear the ball out of the sight during a counter attack so that when the ball is thrown in to play, their defenders may have taken their perfect positions. So a handsome shoot power, a good physical strong body, handsome composure and ability of decision making are much needed for a defensive midfielder. For video tutorials, a worthy defensive midfielder Sergio Busquets will be helpful for you guys :)Defense:
“Attack wins you matches but defense wins you titles” This quote shows the value of the defense. Each team must have a solid defense which can be handy against both easy and tough opponents. Most of the time, your attack does not perform at best level. It becomes frustrated situation but a defense should not bottle down even a bit because to not conceding the goal is far better to score a goal. When a solid defense can’t allow opposition to score then there is a chance that they make some blunders and then you may counter attack ;) Following is the classification of defenders. Go through it.
Left Back:
The left back has many major responsibilities in the defense as well as in attack. As you know he has to mark the right winger of the opposition who is usually a faster one so he must also have some pace to cope with the winger. The left back has to defend when others are making attack and he has to provide some space and pace to his own team mates while his team is making counter attack. He can be helpful providing long balls to his team mates while changing the side of the game play and when the strikers demand long crosses for headers. He must be covering his target all the time before the winger gets to danger area. A good left back must have great stamina, pace, shoot, judgment and ability to link up in the counter attack. Generally a left footed left back is being played on this position who can provide the crosses in the mid from the left flank. David Alaba is a man that is famous for such an immense improvisation of all these. You must check his compilations.

Right Back:
The right back should also have the same qualities as a left back. But it is better to have a right footed player on the right full back position so he can assist in the attacking build up too. A right footed right back can also provide top class crosses to the attackers in the mid. Right foot, pace, strength and tackling are the much needed qualities of a right back. A perfect right back having the most number of titles and having enormous number of assists regarding a right back is the macho man Dani Alves. This guy is always a pleasure to watch :)

Centre Back:
The heart of defense is a centre back. Quite often he is a leader and manager of the whole defense. He has many jobs at once to perform. To take account of the fellow full backs who are on side flank dealing with the wingers of opponents. If anyone of them collapses in covering the winger then the centre back must be there to support him and to block or tackle the attacker. The most important thing is his positioning. He should not go very far from his actual position but he must be there at centre of defense line and should be mentally prepared to deal with the sideline too. He must be aggressive yet calm because in the box if he fouls then a team can concede a penalty which would be much easier to opponents. So, he must be mentally and physically strong enough to make perfect decision with perfect timing. He must be able to cover the keeper and the away pole of the net. A strong heading technique is must because it’s better to clear the long ball with the head then to take risk and wait for the ball to come down because when the ball is grounded anything can happen. So he must clear the ball in the air and when needed clear the ball to the sidelines outside the field with sliding tackles. So a healthy, strong, quickly approached, mentally well awaked and sharpshooter is the crest of the centre back position. A much aggressive and matured centre back who always be there on big occasion is the Pepe. This guy is a beast you must watch his compilations for pleasure and learning ;)

Goal Keeper:
When all of your weapons fail then goalkeeper is the last survivor. A man covering the net must be really very sharp and have the best quick reflexes as well. He must be able to talk with his whole body to stop every single shot. With a never giving up attitude, a strong ball handling and sharp reflexes and long kicking goalkeeper becomes the diamond of a team. Germany must be proud to have Manuel Neuer who is always up to the mark for them. His countless saves and never giving up attitude is enough to make you his fan ;)
Go and find some treat in his compilation ;)
